Meet on bullet train at Omiya Station 9:15am for Mizusawa-Esashi Station (this train is not included)

Arrive 11:37; Rental Car to local café serving eclectic curry rice

Coffee at potter’s workshop and café

Visit an inspiring cast iron foundry promoting nambu tekki ironware

Drive 2.5 hours to Tanohata-mura on the Sanriku coast - this town was hit by the devastating tsunami after the Tohoku earthquake but the people remain resilient and positive despite a population of only 1500 people. With an over abundance of natural food resources from the sea, forests, and fields, this town has so much to offer the rest of Japan and Chef Ito continues his tireless efforts to introduce this bounty to his chef friends in Tokyo

Dinner by Katsuyasu Ito, ex-iron chef who champions the pristine local ingredients and prepares thoughtfully delicious, beautiful dishes - served with well-chosen wine pairings

Day 2

Breakfast at hotel

Visit sea urchin (uni) fisherman for uni tasting

Visit fishermen’s wives drying and packaging sea greens

Visit potato flour maker and local shops, sample local foods

Visit grass fed dairy farm

Dinner curated and prepared by the chef

Stay again at local hotel


Day 3

Breakfast at Ragaso

Drive 1 hour to short horn cow ranch area - very special, so all the meat stays in Japan

Have local lunch

Drive to 2.5 hours to Mizusawa-Esashi

Bullet train back to Tokyo
